First contact with the new 2021 VX Cruiser
Le nouveau VX Cruiser HO hérite de la coque et du moteur 1,8 litre 4 cylindres atmo de la gamme GP1800R et de tous les changements associés excepté la colonne réglable : nouveau pont supérieur, baquets plus profonds avec drainage de l’eau, nouveau capot au design différent du GP et coffre avant plus grand, nouvelle boite à gants avec prises USB et emplacement téléphone, emplacements pour accessoires, nouveaux commodos de Trim, nouveau tableau de bord couleur, nouveau coffre arrière étanche pour ne citer que les principaux.
The new VX Cruiser HO inherits the hull and the four cylinders 1,8 L engine of the GP1800R range and all associated changes except the adjustable steering: new upper deck, deeper bucket with water drainage system, new front with a different look from the GP design and larger front bow storage, new glove box with USB sockets and phone slot, twin multi-mount connection point for accessories, new Trim commodos, new color dashboard, new waterproof underseat storage box to name a few.
La position de conduite est améliorée, mais je n’ai pas pu tester en mer ce nouveau Waverunner, et je ne peux attester d’un meilleur comportement dans le clapot. En tout cas les accélérations sont bien meilleures au niveau d’un ancien modèle avec préparation stage 1 Riva, avec une vitesse de pointe supérieure ! En effet j’ai mesuré cette dernière en eau douce en conditions parfaitement lisses et sans vent et clapot, à plus de 105 km/h.
The driving position is improved, but I don’t test this new Waverunner at sea, and I cannot attest to a better behavior in the waves. In any case the accelerations are much better at the level of an old model with stage 1 Riva, with a higher top speed ! Indeed, I measured it with perfectly smooth conditions and without wind and waves, at more than 105 km/h (more than 65 mph).
A priori cette jolie performance vient du travail effectué par Yamaha sur l’entrée d’eau et l’écope avec la suppression des turbulences dans cette partie de la coque. A noter que les modèles US plafonnent à environ 100 Km/h pour ne pas cannibaliser sans doute les versions à compresseur qui sont limitées électroniquement à 108,8 km/h aux USA, tous constructeurs confondus, pour respecter la demande des gardes côtes US.
This nice performance comes from the work done by Yamaha on the water inlet and the scoop grate with the removal of turbulence in this part of the hull. Note that the US models cap at 63 mph (100,8 Km/h) so as not to cannibalize probably the supercharged versions that are electronically limited to 68 mph (108,8 km/h) in the USA, all manufacturers combined, to meet the demand of the US Coast Guard.
Le Cruiser est aussi équipé en standard d’un système audio, contrairement au GP1800R HO (VXR) à vocation plus sportive, et d’une selle trois places avec dosserets plus prononcés pour les passagers, à noter également le nouveau bouton unique pour démarrer et arrêter le moteur.
The Cruiser is also equipped as standard with an audio system, unlike the more pure sport GP1800R HO (VXR), and a three persons seat with more pronounced backsplash for passengers, also note the new single button, to start and stop the engine.
Le VX Cruiser HO sera disponible dans un coloris unique jaune et noir, très Yamaha seventies.
